Floyd leads Sox to win

The White Sox got a great pitching performance by Floyd on Tuesday and used it to get by and get a win against the Twins. The White Sox were the visiting team and were facing a Twins team who has struggled to this point of the season. Floyd made these struggles that much more difficult as he had all of his stuff working. The White Sox were then able to get just enough offense to get the W.

Cubs' curse continuing to live on

The Cubs were able to get a win at home against the Mets of New York on Tuesday. The game was won by Chicago by the final of 5-3, as the Cubs improved a terrible record that is one of the league’s worst. The Cubs have struggled throughout the season and should continue to frustrate long-time Cubs’ fans as the season progresses. Perhaps the team really is cursed, which is a shame given all the history and the wonderful experience that comes with going to old Wrigley Field. On this day though, Cubs fans could smile as the team left with a win.

White Sox shut out Cubs

The Cubs and White Sox met on Wednesday in a battle for the windy city of Chicago. The White Sox were the home team in this case and ended up making any Cubs fans that made the short trip over sick to their stomachs. That is because the game ended with a big goose egg for the Cubbies as the White Sox won 7-0. I guess at this point in the year, though, Cubs fans are getting used to that feeling as their record is sickening. The win for the Sox helped them avoid a sweep by the Cubs who had won each game of the series prior.

Cubs fall to Detroit

The Cubs met the Tigers at home in Chicago on Wednesday in a big-city matchup between two struggling ball clubs. In the end, Detroit out-pitched and out-hit the Cubs and were able to get the victory 8-4. The Cubs lost a healthy lead late in the game after a strong start that seemed to be a sign of things to come. Cub relievers, however, had other plans as they began to fall apart and were hit all over the field.

White Sox nearly hit-less

The White Sox were nearly no-hit on Wednesday at home against the Blue Jays. The team could not hit a beach ball if Toronto pitcher Morrow threw one, as he was on fire throughout. In the end, he went the distance giving up just 2 hits while shutting out the Sox. The White Sox are still in good shape, but will want to forget about this latest game as they move forward towards the all-star break.

Cubs Get Walk-off Win

The Cubs won 8-6 at home on Wednesday against the Padres. The win came thanks to some late game heroics in a tie ball game in the bottom of the 9th. The teams had battled on both sides of the ball all day and provided a very good match up as their near equal records indicated may happen. In the end, despite the team’s poor records, the game turned out to be an exciting one to watch as it featured everything everyone loves about baseball.

The Cubs got their 8 runs off of 10 hits in the contest, which was one more hit then the Padres managed. That one hit was a huge one though as it came in the bottom of the 9th in a tie ballgame with a man on base. Barney came to the plate and was able to get a walk-off two-run homer to end the game at that point. Because of this hit, Cub Pitcher Russell was able to earn his second victory of the season. He is yet to lose as the Cubs improved their record to 18-32 this season.

White Sox win 4-3 Against Rays

The White Sox won 4-3 against the Rays on Wednesday on the road in Florida. The team continues to flourish as they are now on an 8-game winning streak. The White Sox won despite being out powered by the Rays who hit two homers. Chicago ripped off many more hits, however, and was able to get runners across while their pitcher Jones threw a beauty and frustrated Rays’ hitters.

The Sox got 11 hits in all on Wednesday, which produced just 4 runs. Although this was frustrating for them, their starting pitcher Jones was able to frustrate the Rays even more by giving up just 4 hits. He did give up a homerun early in the 2nd inning, but settled in to record out after out. In the end, he earned the victory, which moves his record to 3-0 on the season. The Sox closer, Reed, came on late to get his 6th save of the season. The win improves the Sox record to 29-22 this season while improving their away record to 17-9.
