The 1-1 Chicago Bears will host the 1-1 St. Louis Rams this Sunday at 1 p.m. on FOX. The Bears are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Packers in a game that highlighted problems that Chicago has not only on the field, but off as well. Meanwhile, the Rams under first year coach Jeff Fisher were able to get a win at home against the Washington Redskins that came down to a last second field goal and featured perhaps an emergence of Sam Bradford.
The Bears struggles against Green Bay last week boiled over with Bear QB Jay Cutler publically humiliating his lineman on the field. Cutler has been criticized by teammates that have basically said that is who he is and that is what he does. Unfortunately, these are not the leadership qualities you want in you QB. Also, given Jay’s time in the league, these mannerisms probably will not change anytime soon. What I do know, however, is that if I was protecting his blindside I may just let him take a nice hit to make him figure out why he needs to treat me with respect.
Sunday the Bears will have to do plenty of protecting Cutler on offense so they can score enough points against the Rams who have shown they can put up some numbers. Last week Bradford threw for 300 yards and three scores as he helped his team escape with a win at home against the Redskins. This week will be another good test for this young Ram team led by a new experienced coach.
