The year: 2004
George W. Bush is re-elected as President. NASA’s rovers took pictures of Mars alien landscape. The NHL was going in the toilet and held a season long lockout. “The Curse” was ended for the Boston Red Sox. The New England Patriots won another Super Bowl.
With all this, one creation rocked the athletic world and turned fantasy (literally for men) into reality.
I’m talking about the creation of the LFL. The Lingerie Football League.
With this creation came our 2009-10’ undefeated Chicago Bliss.
The sheer fact of grown, athletic women playing football with nothing but shoulder pads, a helmet and underwear was frowned upon by many.
These athletes don’t care. They play the game and entertain.
The Bliss play with as much intensity as a roided up horse.
A 4-0 record, Eastern Conference Title and a trip to Miami for the LFL Bowl, proves it.
Yes, these gorgeous women playing football in lingerie is the sexiest thing since…well you have your own thoughts. It’s pretty damn hot.
The majority of the team is from Chicago. Our women are tough so this success isn’t a surprise.
The offense is led by QB Elle K. Carabiano (Naperville, Illinois), who is tied for 1st in the league with a 118.8 passer efficiency and RB Tasha “The Tank” Pryor who has 2 sacks on defense as well.
I have never been to a Bliss game, but I recommend you check out some of the highlights on their web-site (http://www.lflus.com/chicagobliss/).
This is a very unique league and team.
It is not something for the entire family and it is mostly geared toward the mind of a male.
You can say that about any sport though.
I like seeing a Chicago team playing for their leagues big prize. This is something we as a city should embrace and be proud of.
The Bliss are showing the L.F.L. that Chicago women have the looks. They got the skill. They have the beauty.
Beauty turns into the beast on the field.
Congrats to the Bliss on a great season and bring that trophy home.
